For over three months, I have looked at that white board in his room at the “Anticipated Discharge Date.” Blank. Empty. No ideas. (Save for Gianna who wrote a while back, “We don’t know.”) No end in sight. No clue when we would actually get out of here. Well, that has changed, folks! It was with great joy and enthusiasm that G, who will now be officially known as “G-borG,” half Giacomo and half cyborg, grabbed that marker and filled in that blank himself—-September 10 😃!!!!!!

It looks as though things are falling into place with the new home health agency and we will all be back together as a family!!! (Plus a nurse 20 hours a day.) Throughout all of this experience, I have been utterly blown away, speechless, and have shed many prideful tears at the courage that he has had to keep moving forward, to stay positive, to be resilient, to laugh instead of cry, to dance and sing, basically living the words of this quote from the tea I sipped the other day and telling his fear (and all of ours)—“Get out of my way, I’ve got things to do.”

He summed it up best himself when he changed the message on his light up board, a gift from a fellow caregiver and brave soul, Allison, when he wrote “COURAGE IS LIFE,” a message that will be appearing on our custom G-borG shirts that will be available soon in honor of G’s journey! (Comment if you’d like one—my only ask would be that you share My-Vida with others who you think might benefit from hearing our story 💚) #surgerysurvivor#thelightattheendofthetunnel #courageislife #tigercub #proudtigermama
